Install Polyglot on Mac: Using terminal or App installation

Want to install a python NLP package known as PolyglotWant to use polyglot for a school or business project to translate languages?

Then follow the below instructions and check out how you can install and run Polyglot?

I am using a MacBook Air “Big Sur” to do this….. So, all the screenshots and results are based on Mac OS platform.

You can select a word or a sentence and select the target language to convert.

The vast majority of developers can easily install and use Polyglot.

So,  first thing you have to do to install Polyglot on a Mac is:

install polyglot python on mac

Use the PiP command

Open Terminal on your Mac

Enter this:

$ pip install polyglot

 If you any errors then you have to install numpy and libicu-dev packages because the Polyglot depends on these packages. These packages are free to install.

Enter the following command to install

libicu library sudo apt-get install python-numpy libicu-dev

You can check if the library has been properly installed or not by running this command:

$ ls -l /usr/local/opt/icu4c/include/

Now you can install pyicu using this command

$ CFLAGS=-I/usr/local/opt/icu4c/include LDFLAGS=-L/usr/local/opt/icu4c/lib pip install pyicu

** This will get you the latest version of polyglot**

The latest version of Polyglot is now installed on your MacBook Air or MacBook Pro. You should have an updated version of Python Nympon to install Polyglot package.

Polyglot app on Mac Store

You can also use the Polyglot app on Mac store without any commands.
